Launch of Thomas J. Bata Legacy Award Promotion Campaign

Riara University hosted the launch of Thomas J. Bata Legacy Award Promotion Campaign on 18th November, 2014. The award is in commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Thomas J. Bata by Bata Shoe Foundation in honor of the “Shoemaker to the World” in conjunction with Global Business Schools Network (GBSN).
Thomas J. Bata Legacy Award aims to promote and support responsible entrepreneurship in emerging markets.
The Award commemorates his dedication to entrepreneurship and service. The Bata Shoe Foundation will be launching the $25,000 in Award funding for young entrepreneurs in East Africa using business to make a difference in their community. The purpose is to reflect Thomas J. Bata’s and his father’s values, and create a legacy to perpetuate those values by encouraging young people to build up a business of their own that makes a contribution to society. The cocktail started at 5:30 and was graced by very vibrant guests and speakers. The RU community of staff and students were also in attendance. The event ended at 9:00 pm.
Submissions for the award will be accepted between November 17th and December 19th, 2014 and with your help we can get the word out to as many interested young people as possible within the next few weeks.
