Dr. Mueni is a mass communications expert with extensive experience in various mass communication platforms. Her academic interests lie in communication for development, mainstreaming gender through communication, popular media culture, and promoting media excellence and freedom.
She has written journal articles like “Our Pregnancy, My Choice: A Feminist Critique of Nerea” and “New Media and Political Marketing in Kenya: The Case of the 2013 General Elections”.

Her mission in life is to work towards the achievement of an empowered society by the provision of information through research to all classes of people. Also, she aims to advocate for a society sensitive to the dynamics of development and personality diversities through mass media and education.
Dr Mueni has previously worked at the University of Nairobi and St. Paul’s University as a lecturer and the Nation Media Group as a reporter. She has been a judge in the Media Council of Kenya Annual Journalism Excellence Awards for the last six years.

kinyekiEric T Kinyeki is an accomplished Media Practitioner with over 15 years of experience in audio/visual production and studio management. Eric has experience  filmmaking, tv commercials, music videos, documentaries and short films all around the globe. He’s highly skilled in studio, location and post productions with a strong analytical senses for audio and video detailEric earned a degree in BS Audio Production and Engineering from Art Institute of Atlanta and received his Masters in Fine Arts (MFA) in Design and Visual Communication from Johns Hopkins University of Technology.

Eric has over Ten years of experience having worked in the United States of America at PBS & Disney Kids radio station, CNN – Turner Studios, Dallas Austin Recording Projects (DARP) and T- Mobile. He joins us from Africa24 Media where he was the Creative Designer, Editor and Trainer.

Eric lecturers several studio practical courses of Multimedia Journalisms at Riara University where he is the Head of the Journalism A/V Studio.

He also currently caters to major production media houses World-wide from, non-profit organizations, indy filmmakers to large broadcast houses. He has worked with recognised and reputable A.C.E (America Cinema Editors) cinematographers in Johannesburg, Hollywood, New York, Osaka, Okinawa, Atlanta, Hong Kong, DRC, Cairo, Addis Ababa…, where he has been and still very actively involved in many collaborative production international.

kinyekiElizabeth Gitonga is a Tutorial Fellow in the department of Communication and Multimedia Journalism at Riara University. She joined Riara University in September, 2017 as an Adjunct Lecturer. Previously, she worked for Nation Media Group for over a decade in various positions – as a reporter, sub-editor and editor.

Elizabeth has also taught at St. Paul’s University. She is the author of The 5th Columnist: A legendary Journalist, a biography of veteran journalist Philip Ochieng and has also published English storybooks for children Grade 1-4 (CBC).  Elizabeth holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Literature and Sociology from Egerton University, a Post-Graduate Diploma in Mass Communication from the University of Nairobi and a master’s degree from the University of Nairobi. She is currently studying for her PhD in Communication Studies at Moi University.

Marion Amukuzi is a PhD candidate in communication at Moi University. She holds a Master’s degree in Communication and Media Studies from Daystar University and a Bachelor of Communication and Information Technology from Maseno University. She is
enthusiastic about media training in the digital era and has researched and written papers on the influence of media training on the competence of Journalists in Kenya, and the relevance of curricula review for journalism training in the 21st century.
She is currently working on a research on civic engagement in strategic communication campaigns. She has a passion for mentoring young people and helping them achieve their dreams.
